King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted the first Buckingham Palace garden party of the season on Wednesday, with the monarch receiving praise for his recent address to the US Congress during his state visit to America.
Celebrating Community Servants
The garden party, held in the grounds of Buckingham Palace, celebrated emergency responders and individuals serving their communities. Approximately 8,000 guests attended the event, which saw all working royals present except the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Among the guests was paramedic Claire Swinbourne, who spoke with King Charles about her experience of being assaulted while on duty. The King acknowledged the unacceptability of such incidents, offering his support and understanding.
Royal Engagement with Charities
Queen Camilla engaged with representatives from SafeLives, a domestic abuse charity of which she is patron, commending their vital work in supporting victims of domestic abuse. The Queen has long been an advocate for raising awareness about domestic violence and supporting survivors.
The garden party marked the beginning of the summer season of royal events, with the King and Queen leading the celebrations. King Charles's address to the US Congress during his state visit was widely praised for strengthening the 'irreplaceable and unbreakable' bond between the United States and the United Kingdom.
