Far-Right Podcaster Quoted Hitler in Telegram Group, Court Told

A far-right fitness influencer from Liverpool has been convicted of disseminating terrorist publications after quoting Adolf Hitler and encouraging violence against Jews and Muslims, the Old Bailey heard.

Kristofer Kearney, 39, known online as Charlie Big Potatoes, told fellow Telegram users in a private chat group called 'west is best' that the Nazi leader 'showed people the way' and did 'nothing wrong'. He was a regular host of the right-wing podcast Patriotic Talk and ran a channel called Fascist Fitness.

Prosecutor Naomi Parsons said Kearney's posts included themes of 'white genocide', antisemitism, and glorification of Nazi Germany. He also described Jewish people as 'responsible for a lot of the world's ills'. The court was shown an image of Kearney with a flag of the banned neo-Nazi group National Action.

Kearney previously pleaded guilty to two counts of disseminating terrorist publications. The offences relate to Telegram posts on 23 January and 8 March that shared documents encouraging extreme right-wing terror attacks, including manifestos of the Christchurch mosque shooter and Anders Breivik. In 2021, he posted a list of 89 extreme right-wing documents.

His defence barrister Ged O'Connor argued Kearney was 'reckless' as to whether his conduct encouraged terrorism. However, the prosecution contends the evidence suggests intent. The hearing to determine his motivation is expected to last two days before sentencing.
