A journalist who once chanted 'Death to America' as a teen activist in Iran has spoken about her past, revealing the daily ritual she was forced to participate in. Rana, now a BBC Persian employee in the UK, described how every morning she and others had to chant the slogan.
Rana moved to the UK to report on Iran without restrictions, but the decision came at a high personal cost. She and her children are now unable to return to Iran for fear of arrest.
She shared her experiences in an interview on The Explanation, a BBC World Service programme, discussing the challenges of reporting on her homeland from abroad.
