Sydney Sweeney's 'Devil Wears Prada 2' Cameo Cut Amid Controversies
Sydney Sweeney's Cameo Cut From 'Devil Wears Prada 2'

Sydney Sweeney has risen to become one of Hollywood's most successful young stars, with roles in The White Lotus, The Handmaid's Tale, and Euphoria. However, her cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been cut ahead of the film's release. The actress played herself in a three-minute scene styled by Emily Blunt's character, Emily Charlton. According to EW, the scene was scrapped because it did not work structurally.

Controversial Campaign

This is the latest blow for Sweeney following a string of controversies. She appeared in an American Eagle denim campaign with the tagline 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,' which critics claimed was pro-eugenics and supported far-Right politics. In one ad, she said, 'My genes are blue,' while buttoning jeans. Another clip showed her in a denim jumpsuit, saying, 'My body's composition is determined by my genes.' Social media users slammed the campaign as 'Nazi propaganda,' though some fans called the backlash 'unhinged.' Despite the controversy, the campaign boosted profits, earning $1.28 billion since June, with stock up 25 percent.

Euphoria Season 3 Backlash

More recently, Sweeney's role in Euphoria has drawn criticism for sexually charged plotlines. Her character, Cassie, explores OnlyFans modeling, with scenes depicting 'dog roleplay' and adult baby fetish content. Megyn Kelly slammed the show for 'sexualizing infancy,' calling creator Sam Levinson 'sick.' Levinson defended the scenes as intended to 'break the wall' between audience and characters, adding absurdity to highlight the depression behind the fantasy. Sweeney told The Independent she never felt pushed into nudity, saying Levinson welcomed feedback. The third season holds a 46 percent 'rotten' rating on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to 80 and 78 percent for previous seasons.
