Spectator Ejected as World Snooker Final Gets Off to Chaotic Start
Spectator Ejected in Disrupted World Snooker Final Start

The World Snooker Championship final between Shaun Murphy and Wu Yize began in chaotic fashion as a female spectator was ejected after climbing over a barrier and shouting during play. Referee Rob Spencer acted swiftly to restrain the individual, who disrupted the third frame while Chinese player Wu Yize was preparing to take a shot. Security officials promptly escorted her from the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

Prior Disruptions and Phone Incident

This incident followed a similar disturbance late in Saturday night's semi-final between Wu and Mark Allen, where a spectator shouted out “never forget the Epstein files” and was also removed from the arena. Additionally, Murphy expressed frustration in the second frame after missing a green, appearing distracted by a ringing phone. He slammed down his rest in disgust, prompting referee Spencer to address the audience at the end of the frame.

Referee's Warning to Audience

Spencer issued a stern warning to spectators: “Make sure your phones are on silent, or switched off. Don’t be the person that has to be thrown out.” The disruptions marred what should have been a focused start to the 35-frame final, with Murphy and Wu competing for the prestigious title.
