One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts has stated that he cannot rule out the possibility that the Bondi Beach terror attack was a false-flag operation, though he acknowledged he lacks factual evidence to support such a claim. The Queensland politician made the remarks in response to a question from social media comedian Lisa Jane Spencer in a video published on Friday.
Senator's Comments on False Flag
When asked about the attack, Roberts said, "If I make a statement, it's got to be backed by fact, and I don't have the facts yet. I'm not ruling it out. I doubt whether there was a false flag, but it was a bit afterwards when the laws came out." The attack occurred on December 14, 2025, when Naveed Akram and his father Sajid allegedly opened fire on families gathered for Chanukah by the Sea, a public Jewish celebration at Bondi Beach. Fifteen people, including a 10-year-old girl, were killed, and 40 others were wounded.
Historical Context
Roberts suggested that governments have historically used crises to justify new legislation, citing events from the past 30 years, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic. "There are so many things in the last 30 years, but especially with Covid, that they seem to arrange something and then the laws would come," he said. "I can acknowledge that point."
Israel-Palestine Conflict
The senator then turned to the Israel-Palestine conflict, emphasizing the need to distinguish between different groups. He identified four major parties: the Israeli people, the Palestinians, the Israeli government, and Hamas, which he described as "bloodthirsty terrorists." Roberts noted that many Israelis detest their government and argued that some actions of the Israeli government have been "extremely violent and unnecessary." He concluded, "What I'm saying really is, there's a lot of good meat in your question but I don't know the facts."
COVID-19 Response and Special Groups
Roberts also claimed that Australia's COVID-19 response resulted in mass fatalities. He rejected what he termed "special groups" and "special laws," stating, "We don't want these special groups, we don't want people to get these special laws. We want Australia to be Australia first." He added, "The words 'special groups', that's division and disorder and anarchy, and that is a deliberate strategy. These strategies are coming here from the United Nations, full stop."
Royal Commission
A Royal Commission is currently investigating the Bondi Beach terror attack, with an interim report delivered on Thursday. The government is expected to adopt all 14 recommendations outlined in the report. The Daily Mail has contacted Roberts for comment.
