Segway Inventor Dean Kamen in Epstein Files: Photos with Maxwell & Branson
Segway inventor pictured in Epstein files with Maxwell

Dean Kamen, the celebrated inventor behind the Segway personal transporter, has been identified in photographs contained within the trove of documents related to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The images, made public on December 12 by the US House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, show Kamen in social settings with Epstein's associate Ghislaine Maxwell and billionaire Richard Branson.

Kamen's Photos and Statement

One of the released photographs depicts the 74-year-old inventor from New Hampshire standing on a Segway with his arms wrapped around Ghislaine Maxwell, who is seated in front of him. A second image shows Kamen seated at a table with Virgin Group founder Richard Branson, while Jeffrey Epstein stands behind them in what appears to be a tropical location.

In a statement provided to the local ABC affiliate WMUR, Kamen addressed the images. He stated he had been a guest on Richard Branson's private Necker Island "a number of times for conferences and fundraisers" and believed the photo was taken during one of those events many years ago. He emphatically denied any deeper association with Epstein, saying, "I have no knowledge of any of the horrific actions of Jeffrey Epstein other than what I have learned from news reports."

Previous Connections and Links to Epstein's Circle

This is not the first time Kamen's name has surfaced in connection to the Epstein scandal. His name appeared on flight logs for Epstein's private jet, released in January 2024 as part of a lawsuit by victim Virginia Giuffre. Furthermore, a 2022 investigation by The New York Times mentioned Kamen in relation to a multi-day TED conference that Epstein attended.

Kamen's associations also extend to figures closer to Epstein's orbit. Reports from The Boston Globe and journalist Christine Negroni have highlighted Kamen's ties to model and pilot Nadia Marcinko, who was named as a possible 'co-conspirator' in the case and received immunity in 2008. Marcinko was featured in a 2013 article for Kamen's nonprofit, FIRST, and was later connected to DEKA's flying club, according to investigations.

High-Profile Figures in the Files

Kamen is among numerous prominent individuals pictured with Epstein in the recently released batch of 19 photographs. Others include former US President Donald Trump, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, right-wing strategist Steve Bannon, and singer Jimmy Buffett with former President Bill Clinton. Like Kamen, these figures have distanced themselves from Epstein's criminal activities.

It is crucial to note that Dean Kamen is not accused of any wrongdoing in the Epstein case. The release of these documents continues to shed light on the vast social network the disgraced financier cultivated before his death in prison. Ghislaine Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking.
