Scott Parker Leaves Burnley After Premier League Relegation

Scott Parker has left his role as Burnley head coach by mutual consent following the club's relegation from the Premier League. The 45-year-old had been in discussions with chairman Alan Pace since Burnley's relegation was confirmed after a defeat to Manchester City on 22 April.

Assistant coach Mike Jackson will take interim charge for the final four games of the season. The search for a permanent successor is underway, with Wales manager Craig Bellamy, a former Burnley coach under Vincent Kompany, among the candidates.

Parker took over at Turf Moor nearly two years ago after Kompany's departure and led Burnley back to the Premier League at the first attempt with a record 100 points, including a 33-game unbeaten run and a Championship record of 30 clean sheets. However, the team struggled in the top flight, winning only four of 34 matches and conceding 68 goals, the most in the league.

In a statement, Parker said: 'It has been an immense privilege to lead this great club over the past two years. I have enjoyed every moment of our journey together, but feel that now is the right time for both parties to move in a different direction.' He thanked the chairman, staff, players, and fans for their support.

The club expressed its gratitude, stating: 'The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Scott for his professionalism, dedication and contribution. He leaves with the respect and gratitude of everyone connected with Burnley Football Club.'

Jackson's first match in interim charge will be at Leeds on Friday. Burnley will have yo-yoed between the top two tiers for six consecutive seasons when the 2026-27 campaign begins.
