A large-scale manhunt is continuing in New South Wales after three people were shot dead, including a pregnant woman, and a fourth was seriously injured in Lake Cargelligo. Police have described the alleged perpetrator, Julian Ingram, 37, as 'armed and dangerous' and urged the community to stay indoors.
Police said Ingram was on bail for domestic violence-related charges at the time of the alleged murders. Court documents show that Sophie Quinn, 25, who was pregnant and among the deceased, had an apprehended domestic violence order (ADVO) taken out against him in December. Ingram was granted bail on 30 November and was required to report to the local police station daily and abide by the ADVO, including staying at least 100 metres away from Quinn.
The victims were identified as Sophie Quinn, John Harris, 32, and Nerida Quinn, 50. A fourth person, Kaleb Macqueen, 19, was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition. Police were called to Bokhara Street at 4.20pm on Thursday, where they found Quinn and Harris suffering gunshot wounds. They were also called to Walker Street, where Nerida Quinn and Macqueen were found shot in a driveway.
Police Assistant Commissioner Andrew Holland said Ingram had complied with all bail conditions and had been checked on multiple times. He noted that Ingram had a long criminal history but had not breached any orders in the past five years. Ingram was due to face court on 3 February for charges including stalking and harassment, common assault, and property damage.
Police believe Ingram is driving a Ford Ranger utility vehicle with council signage and high-visibility markings. He worked for the local Lachlan Shire council as a gardener and weeds officer, giving him extensive knowledge of the area. Over 100 police, including tactical units and negotiators, are searching for him, with support from PolAir and the defence force.
Sophie Quinn's sister, Katy Quinn, said the Indigenous family could have 'no peace' while Ingram remained at large. Police are urging anyone with information to contact triple zero immediately.
