Nottinghamshire Branch of Restore UK Linked to Far-Right Extremists

A newly formed Nottinghamshire branch of Rupert Lowe's political party Restore has been linked to far-right extremists. The branch, based in Newark, posted on Facebook that it had 'arrived in Newark and we're only just getting started', alongside pictures of members including Matthew Darrington.

Mr Darrington has previously campaigned for Patriotic Alternative, a far-right, fascist, neo-Nazi and white nationalist group. He appears in several posts on the Restore Newark branch's Facebook page, leafleting for the party. He was also named as an English Democrat candidate for Newark in the 2024 general election.

Mr Darrington has been pictured with Mark Collett, an ex-chairman of the British National Party (BNP) and a member of Patriotic Alternative. Speaking at a Patriotic Alternative demonstration in Newark last August, he urged people to vote for Reform UK, calling to 'Make Britain Great Again' and criticising the media.

Restore UK leader Rupert Lowe, who represents Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, launched his party in February 2026 after being suspended from Reform in March 2025. A number of Restore members across the country have been linked to Patriotic Alternative and the BNP, with one member in Scotland remaining in the party despite being pictured making a Nazi salute.

Matthew Darrington and Restore Britain have been contacted by the Nottingham Post but had not responded at the time of publication.
