Poll: Should King Charles Fund Harry’s UK Security?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to return to the United Kingdom next month, and reports indicate that King Charles has offered to privately fund their security arrangements during the visit. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed they will attend the One Year to Go event for the Invictus Games. The couple is expected to bring their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for the first time since June 2022.

It remains unknown whether the two youngest royals will make public appearances. This trip marks Meghan Markle's first visit to the UK since she attended Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral in September 2022. Prince Harry last visited the UK in September 2024.

In May 2025, Harry lost a legal case to reinstate his police protection when in the UK. He stated in a BBC interview that it was "too dangerous" to bring his family due to safety concerns. In December, reports suggested Harry's security access was under review, but no changes have been announced.

A government spokesperson said: "The UK government's protective security system is rigorous and proportionate. It is our longstanding policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals' security."

While a verdict on Harry's security is pending, the monarch has reportedly stepped in to offer his own arrangements for the upcoming visit, according to The Sun. The public is asked to vote on whether King Charles is right to fund the Sussexes' security.

Meghan is expected to appear publicly at the Invictus event, while Archie and Lilibet will likely stay out of the spotlight. A source noted that Harry hopes to show the children where he grew up and introduce them to extended family, including a meeting with King Charles.
