Veteran Channel Nine staffer Chris Anderson tragically passed away on Wednesday while on holiday in Bali. Anderson, a dedicated sound recordist for A Current Affair for nearly two decades, was traveling with his wife Charlotte and their son Otis when he was involved in a fatal accident.
Nine CEO Confirms Death
On Thursday morning, Nine chief executive Matt Stanton confirmed Anderson's death in an all-staff email. 'Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family, friends and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time,' Stanton wrote. He urged staff to 'look out for one another today.'
Tributes from Colleagues
Fiona Dear, Nine's executive director of news and current affairs, paid tribute to Anderson in a statement. 'His longevity at just one program is a testament to his talent and how much he was loved, trusted and valued,' she said. 'This loss will be a terrible shock to his many colleagues and friends across the industry who have worked alongside him over the years.'
Anderson, widely known by his nickname 'Ando,' had been with A Current Affair since 2008. He is survived by his wife Charlotte and their son Otis.
Recent Loss for Nine
Anderson's death comes just months after the passing of another beloved Nine staffer, Matt Granger. In December, it was reported that Granger, director of the network's sports sales portfolio, died after a year-long battle with cancer. Nine's chief sales officer Matt James remembered Granger as a 'cornerstone' of the team and 'an extraordinary individual.'
