BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty is reportedly being formally investigated over allegations of bullying, according to The Sun. The claims against the 50-year-old broadcaster have been escalated to a full investigation following previous reports of bullying on the programme.
A BBC spokesperson declined to comment, stating: “We do not comment on individual HR matters.” Munchetty, who joined the corporation in 2008 as a presenter on Working Lunch, moved to BBC Breakfast in 2014 and also hosts a mid-morning show on BBC Radio 5 Live.
Her salary for 2024-25 was between £355,000 and £359,999, according to the BBC’s annual report. An HR adviser from PricewaterhouseCoopers has been assisting the corporation in examining the culture of the BBC One show, which is based in Salford and airs weekday mornings.
In September, BBC Breakfast editor Richard Frediani was cleared of bullying allegations after an investigation. Frediani, who took extended leave following the claims, has been in charge of the show since 2019. The investigation comes after Tim Davie, who resigned as director general last weekend, and BBC board chair Samir Shah pledged in April to address poor behaviour following an independent review that found some “well-known names” were not being held accountable.
The review, led by management consultant Grahame Russell, was launched after allegations against former newsreader Huw Edwards, who received a suspended prison sentence last year for making indecent images of children.
