Marjorie Taylor Greene delivered a blistering six-word put-down to embattled FBI Director Kash Patel during a speech in Texas, as reports emerge that the White House is openly discussing his dismissal.
Greene's Sharp Remark
The former Trump loyalist, who broke with the president last year over the Epstein files, took a swipe at Patel while speaking at the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity. The jab drew a wave of laughter from the crowd as she opened up about receiving a deluge of death threats amid her feud with Trump.
“I did hear from Kash Patel,” she said, claiming she had reported the death threats to him. “He said ‘on it,’ but I haven’t heard from him since.” After pausing and breaking into a smile, Greene quipped: “I don’t know what he’s on.” The crowd erupted into laughter and applause as she silently nodded and smiled during the April 25 appearance.
Death Threats and Feud with Trump
Greene said many of the death threats she received referred to her as a “traitor,” echoing Trump’s language at a rally. One message, she claims, contained a threat to “put a bullet” in her son’s head. Neither White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles nor Deputy Chief of Staff James Blair responded when she forwarded the threats, Greene claims. However, Vice President JD Vance was “compassionate and kind,” she said. “Donald Trump proceeded to tell me that it was my fault and that I deserve it,” Greene alleged.
Patel's Legal Battle and White House Discussions
Greene gave the speech shortly after Patel filed a $250 million defamation lawsuit against The Atlantic. The publication reported that his FBI colleagues had become alarmed by alleged absences and drinking. Patel’s lawsuit described the article as “replete with false and obviously fabricated allegations,” though The Atlantic told The Independent it stands by its reporting.
Last month, it was reported that White House officials have been “openly discussing” who will replace Patel. The FBI director was also skewered by Saturday Night Live in a skit over the weekend, which poked fun at his performance. Aziz Ansari, portraying Patel, said: “What up? It's K Dot, AKA Kash with the K, AKA the most effective FBI director this country has ever had, Kash Patel!” Still in character, Ansari claimed the FBI had conducted an investigation into the shooting at the Washington Hilton during the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, joking that the investigation “could not have been more thorough.” He quipped: “And for those of you saying I'm doing a bad job running the FBI, well, what if I told you this agency is only six weeks away from pinpointing the exact location of Osama bin Laden?”
