MobLand, the crime drama series created by Ronan Bennett, has reportedly been confirmed for a third season. The show, which premiered on Paramount+ in March 2025, follows the fictional Harrigan family and their influence on London's criminal underworld.
Renewal and Production
After the first season's 10 episodes featuring stars like Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, and Anson Boon, a second season was confirmed in June 2025, with filming already underway. Now, a third season is set to follow, according to a TV insider.
The insider told The Sun: "Thankfully the quality of the show and the ratings have convinced bosses that the drama is worth committing to. It is top-level production and directed by Guy Ritchie and has been well received by critics and, generally, by the viewers. But initially all the talk was about the accents and Pierce in particular."
The Daily Mail has contacted Paramount+ for comment.
Accent Controversy
MobLand became a huge hit upon its premiere, but one aspect that sparked discussion was Pierce Brosnan's Irish accent. In May 2025, Brosnan defended his portrayal after critics, including The Irish Independent, described it as "all over the place and a huge distraction."
Speaking to Radio Times, the Drogheda-born actor explained that his character, Conrad Harrigan, required a broader Kerry accent than his own. "My own accent is very soft," he said. "Conrad's accent is a million miles away from me." He added that the accent was inspired by a real person suggested by his dialect coach: "I told him that I needed a Kerry accent, so he gave me the name of a man and I Googled the guy and that was it. It was a Kerry accent. And so, I just gave it full tilt."
Behind the Scenes
In January, the set of MobLand was rocked by a huge explosion, with fire crews called to the Guy Ritchie show's location. Recently, Brosnan was spotted on set for season two, sporting a slicked-back grey quiff, sunglasses, and a flat cap, alongside actor Emmett J. Scanlan.
MobLand has received an impressive 8.3 stars out of 10 on IMDb and a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, solidifying its status as a hit drama.
