A gunman disguised as a Deliveroo rider shot an eight-year-old girl and her father during a spree of targeted attacks, a court has heard. Jazz Reid allegedly fired 11 shots, hitting the child twice and the 34-year-old father five times as they sat with family members in a car in Ladbroke Grove, northwest London, on 24 November.
The shooting was one of three linked incidents involving two guns, one of which was recovered from under a concrete slab outside Reid's home in Uxbridge after his arrest. Prosecutor Michael Goodwin KC told jurors that each shooting was planned and executed with precision, with Reid switching his mobile phone and SIM card to avoid detection.
Reid would drive a hire car to the area, change into a Deliveroo disguise complete with a takeaway box, and cycle an e-bike to the location of his intended targets. In the first shooting on 9 October, he allegedly shot Ameile Buncombe in the thigh at her home in Notting Hill. Body-worn video showed the victim telling police the assailant was carrying a 'kangaroo' bag before correcting it to 'Deliveroo'.
On 11 November, Reid allegedly fired four shots at an address in north London linked to the father, with no injuries reported. Thirteen days later, he shot the girl and her father in their car on Southern Row. Goodwin said the victims had nowhere to escape when the defendant opened fire.
After each shooting, Reid returned his disguise to a flat on the Swinbrook Estate in north Kensington and drove home. He was arrested on 26 November while driving a hire car. Police found a 9mm self-loading pistol loaded with 17 live rounds under a concrete slab outside his home. Reid's DNA was found on the pistol, which was linked to the third shooting. A different gun was used in the first two shootings, with partial DNA on casings at the second scene.
