Josie Gibson Horrified as Dead Dog's Ashes Go Missing on New ITV Show
Josie Gibson Shocked by Lost Dog Ashes on ITV Show

Josie Gibson experienced an awkward moment while filming her new ITV series, after being told that the ashes of a contestant's deceased dog had gone missing. The This Morning and Big Brother star is currently hosting How To Clean Up For Cash, where she surprises an unsuspecting participant at their home, sends them off under the pretence of a fake TV show, and secretly declutters their house with a team of experts, appraising their items. Upon their return, they choose whether to keep their belongings or sell them.

Episode Incident in Findon

In the latest episode, the team travelled to Findon to declutter the home of pub landlord Sally Harris, after her partner Tim volunteered their property. However, things quickly went awry when Tim informed the crew that something very personal might have been accidentally packed away.

In scenes reminiscent of the dreaded teapot collection from Changing Rooms, Tim admitted: 'Well there was one thing on the shelf yesterday… My late dog's ashes. I'm not sure where they went.'

Clearly horrified, Josie replied: 'So you're saying we could've potentially boxed up your dead dog's ashes? You need to tell us before we start boxing everything! That's quite fundamental, your dead dog's ashes…'

'Oh, God, this is getting serious,' she told the camera. 'If we're possibly ditching the family dog, what other keepsakes might be boxed up? I just hope we find them…'

Thankfully, the urn was eventually located before Sally arrived home, and Tim kept it safely on a shelf while the clear-up continued.

Sally's Reaction

When Sally returned, she was taken aback by the state of her home, before Josie informed her that the packed belongings were worth around £2,000. Tim explained: 'I wanted to do something because you're always too busy and I wanted to show I loved you by getting rid of all your things. I thought it would be a bit of a grand gesture.'

At the end of the episode, Sally decided to sell her belongings, but later confessed she was 'a bit upset' after filming. 'You're like, Oh my gosh, where's all my stuff? It's not the most pleasant,' she told the Argus. 'For the first couple of days I was a bit upset.' Despite being 'very shocked' about the series, she added that it ended up being 'quite cathartic'.
