I'm A Celebrity has been hit with accusations of being 'a fix' after actor Adam Thomas was permitted to stay on the show despite his trial partner quitting. The South Africa spin-off of the popular reality series saw an explosive feud between former footballer Jimmy Bullard and Waterloo Road star Adam Thomas unfold on Tuesday evening.
Jimmy Bullard's Attempt to Go Home Backfires
The drama erupted when Jimmy Bullard, 47, attempted to sabotage a Bushtucker Trial so he could leave the competition. However, with Adam Thomas as his partner, the actor would also have been sent home. Bullard refused to participate and instead called out, 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!', bringing the trial to an immediate halt. This decision sparked a bitter falling out between the two men, with Adam launching into a blistering rant.
Following Jimmy's decision to quit, Adam yelled: 'If you f*****g wanted to go. Don't take me with you. What is up with you? All you have to do is run through some mud and you said "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here."' An unimpressed Jimmy replied: 'It ain't about that. I wanted to go home.' Adam retorted: 'Well, go home then in camp. Don't do it on my f****g watch. A quitter bro, I don't quit.' Despite quitting, Jimmy said it was a 'killer to let Adam down.'
He added: 'Letting Adam down is a killer. He is on a different journey for me, he wants to do well. I get it. I got my mum and dad at home, the old man ain't too well. I struggled so much. It's got harder and harder. Unfortunately my time was up in the game.'
Fans Question Rule Change
Shortly after the clash, hosts Ant and Dec asked the remaining celebrities if they were happy with Adam returning to camp rather than being given his marching orders. Despite Craig Charles and Harry Redknapp being far from impressed with Adam's behaviour, the emotional star was allowed to return to camp instead of going home. However, fans have hit out at the programme, baffled by the apparent 'change' in the rules. They took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to vent their frustration.
One viewer said: 'Rules are rules and Adam should have to leave too regardless of whether you agree with Jimmy's calling out. I'm just a stickler for the rules, I guess.' Another penned: 'It might not seem "fair", but you can't just change the rules and save Adam because Jimmy didn't give it a go… Rules are rules. Giving the choice to the campmates so you can blame the rule change on "well the camp said he could stay" is a cop out.'
A third confused viewer tweeted: 'So Adam was allowed to stay because he cried?.. If he'd have accepted it, like Harry would have for example, they'd not have asked about him staying.' While a fourth commented: 'So Adam was allowed to stay because he cried? If he's have accepted it, like Harry would have for example, they'd not have asked about him staying.'
Format Changes for All-Star Season
This year has seen a major change to the All-Star format, which was completely pre-recorded in the previous season. This year, however, the contestants will gather this Friday night in front of a live audience to determine the winner. The Mirror has approached I'm A Celebrity for comment.
