Good Morning Britain issued a sad update regarding Adam Thomas on Tuesday's show, following the chaotic finale of I'm a Celebrity... South Africa. The ITV spin-off series concluded with a live broadcast from a London studio on Friday night, where Adam, aged 37, was crowned the winner among the final four contestants, which included Craig Charles, Mo Farah, and Harry Redknapp.
However, viewers noticed that Adam appeared somewhat subdued during his victory, shortly after a heated exchange with David Haye and Jimmy Bullard occurred live on air. Following his win, Adam did not appear on the spin-off show I'm a Celebrity... Unpacked, which is typically expected of the winner. Similarly, David, 45, and Jimmy, 47, were also absent from the after-show. Since the final, Adam has not given any interviews, breaking the usual tradition where winners appear on daytime programmes after being crowned.
During Tuesday's Good Morning Britain, presenter Richard Arnold, 56, discussed the drama surrounding I'm a Celebrity, noting that several celebrities expressed disappointment over the events of the live final. Richard stated, 'No disappointment for the legend himself though because the winner actually garnered quite a good chunk of the public vote so there you have it.' Co-host Susanna Reid confirmed, 'Adam Thomas. He's not doing interviews,' to which Richard added, 'Not doing interviews, no, not at the moment.'
The final saw David, who faced allegations of bullying Adam—claims he denied—challenging the Waterloo Road actor regarding an earlier dispute with Jimmy. The disagreement between Adam and Jimmy erupted during a trial segment in the previous Tuesday's broadcast, where Jimmy chose to withdraw, forcing Adam, his partner, to also exit. However, Ant and Dec reversed their decision, allowing Adam to stay after fellow contestants unanimously agreed he deserved to continue due to the unfair situation. During the live finale, tensions escalated further when Jimmy presented his version of events, leading to Sinitta and Gemma Collins storming off in frustration, while host Ant, 50, challenged the ex-footballer.
On Saturday, Adam took to Instagram to reflect on his journey: 'I walked through this journey with my heart first, no matter what came my way… It was not always easy, there were moments that could have broken me, but I stayed true to myself and that is something I will always be proud of.' He added, 'I have realised that when people try to dim your light, it says more about them than it ever will about you. This experience has shown me my strength in ways I never imagined.'
