Influencer Slammed for 30-Hour Flight to Buy 'Ugly' Heels

Controversial influencer Elle Ferguson has sparked backlash for bragging about flying 30 hours just to buy a pair of questionable designer heels. The Australian social media star, 41, took to Instagram with a video of herself posing in the mirror of a Valentino boutique in Paris as she tried on several pairs of pumps, each worth $1,680.

The unusual shoes featured an open toe with a transparent strip across the front, making it look like they were completely open at the front. 'Travelled 30hrs from Sydney to Paris to get THE heels of the season. Say hello to the Open Toe Révélé Suede Pumps,' Elle wrote in the caption.

Unfortunately, many of Elle's followers weren't as thrilled with the shoes, with several slamming them as 'ugly' and 'overpriced'. 'HIDEOUS. Girl you wasted money on shoes that are ugly, overpriced, and will break easy,' one user wrote, adding: 'That plastic is going to have so much pressure on it, it's gonna snap right off after a night out'.

'It's not a flex you think it is,' another user wrote, as someone else agreed: 'That's the most hideous style of heels I have ever seen.' Another critic wrote: 'Hate to say this but they're awful,' while someone else commented: 'Girl those are terrible'. Some users compared the shoes to camel toes, while others likened it to a pair of two front teeth.

Other users took aim at Elle for travelling so far for such a seemingly insignificant reason. 'You didn't have anything better to do?' one user wrote, as another user asked: 'You couldn't get them shipped?' However, there were plenty of followers who praised Elle's extravagant shopping trip. 'I think they are super cool and unique,' someone wrote. 'I actually love them!' another user agreed, while a third added: 'They're definitely a cool girl heel!'

Jewellery Box Controversy

It comes after Elle made headlines last week after claiming a designer jewellery box is better than having kids. Elle, who does not have any children, took to Instagram last Tuesday with a video of herself gleefully posing with a shell-shaped jewellery box as she visited a Louis Vuitton boutique. The box retails for a whopping $23,600 and is crafted from monogram-coated canvas with blue microfibre lining and golden brass hardware.

Elle overlayed her video with a polarising message: 'Just saw someone from high school post a photo with their 3 kids saying 'What could be better than this?'. Respectfully - a $23,600 LV Seashell Box.' She also attempted to temper any backlash by adding the caption: 'Take it with a grain of salt.'

Unfortunately, this did little to quell critics slamming Elle in the comment section. 'Respectfully, I hope you are joking,' one user wrote. 'Kids are much better than a cheesy Louis Vuitton shell jewelry case,' another scoffed, while a third added: 'A LV seashell box will never say, 'Mamma ti voglio un mondo di bene' [Mum I love you so much]. Nothing can beat THIS feeling… respectfully!'

One user even claimed that they 'wouldn't be taking the jewellery box for free', even though they don't have children, while another questioned how much Elle was paid to promote the jewellery box. There were plenty of users who agreed with Elle's sentiment however. 'I have three kids, and yes you're right,' one user joked, as another added: 'Nailed it!! We all want one.'

Several of Elle's celebrity pals also showed their support in the comments section. Fellow influencer Elle Gonsalves, who famously went viral for her '118 reasons not to have kids list', commented: 'Hell yeah', while model mother-of-one Simone Holtznagel posted a string of laughing emojis. 'I'm crying', Booby Tape founder Bianca Roccisano added, while Double Bay eyebrow queen and mother-of-one Kristin Fisher quipped: 'This is too good.'
