Charge Dropped Against L'Jarius Sneed in 2024 Shooting

Two-time Super Bowl winner L'Jarius Sneed has had a criminal charge dropped in connection with a 2024 shooting incident at a car dealership in the Dallas area. The announcement was made on Tuesday by his attorney, Michael J. Todd. Sneed, who is currently a free agent, expressed relief on social media, stating that the "weight is finally off."

Background of the Case

Originally, Sneed was charged with aggravated assault following the alleged incident on 6 December 2024. The charge was subsequently reduced to a misdemeanor for failing to report a felony, which carries a potential penalty of up to one year in county jail or a fine not exceeding $4,000. The case stemmed from an event at a car lot in Carrollton, Texas.

Civil Lawsuit Pending

According to ESPN, the owner of the dealership has filed a $1 million lawsuit claiming that he was sitting in his vehicle when Sneed and another individual drove onto the lot and opened fire. That civil action remains ongoing.

NFL Career and Recent Developments

Sneed, 29, was released by the Tennessee Titans earlier this year in March. The move saved the team $11.4 million against the salary cap in 2026 and $16.4 million in 2027. After helping the Kansas City Chiefs secure consecutive Super Bowl victories in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Sneed failed to deliver the impact the Titans had anticipated.

He appeared in only 12 games (all starts) over two seasons due to quadriceps injuries, following his acquisition from the Chiefs in March 2024. In the 2025 season, he recorded 26 tackles and three pass breakups across seven games.

Career Highlights

Over his career with the Chiefs and Titans, Sneed amassed 352 tackles, 10 interceptions, and 6.5 sacks in 69 games (66 starts). He was selected by Kansas City in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech. In addition to his two Super Bowl rings, Sneed was named to the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) All-Rookie Team for 2020 after an impressive debut season.
