Channel 4 Axes BAFTA-Nominated Comedy Pushers After One Series

Channel 4 has cancelled the BAFTA-nominated comedy series Pushers after just one season, despite its critical acclaim and disability representation. The show, co-written by and starring comedian Rosie Jones, followed a young woman with cerebral palsy who becomes a drug dealer after her disability benefits are cut.

Rosie Jones announced the news on Instagram, expressing her disappointment: “With a heavy heart and a bag full of fake drugs, I can announce that Pushers is not coming back for a second series. I can’t begin to tell you what this show means to me and I am immensely proud of what we accomplished.” She thanked the production team and Channel 4, adding, “Please keep watching it and enjoying it, you’re making Pushers live on.”

A Channel 4 spokesperson said: “We’re so proud of Pushers and would like to thank Rosie Jones, Peter Fellows, 2LE Media and Merman Television for their brilliant work. We look forward to working together on future projects. Like all broadcasters, we regularly review our programming to ensure we’re offering the right range of content. This means making difficult decisions on which shows to rest, return or conclude.”

The six-part series aired from 19 June to 3 July 2025, earning Rosie Jones a BAFTA nomination for Best Female Comedy Performance in March 2026. She lost the award to Katherine Parkinson earlier this month. Despite the cancellation, Jones remains proud of the show’s impact on disability representation both in front of and behind the camera.
