The girlfriend of Asos co-founder Quentin Griffiths has expressed disbelief over the Thai police's conclusion that his death was a suicide. Jom Thipanongsri, 26, said she was in 'complete shock' and insisted there were 'no warning signs' before the 58-year-old fell from the 17th-floor balcony of his luxury flat in Pattaya on 9 February.
Ms Thipanongsri told The Sun: 'I was in complete shock when I heard the news, and I have been crying every day since. He was a special person, my hero – I love him so much and miss him every single day.' She added that she had never seen him take antidepressants or show any signs of mental health issues.
Police said initial investigations suggested Mr Griffiths was alone in the flat, with the door locked and no evidence of a break-in. An autopsy found no signs of foul play. The British entrepreneur, who sold his stake in Asos for an estimated £10 million in 2011, had been involved in a custody battle with his ex-wife Ploy Kringsinthanakun over their two children.
He also faced accusations from his ex-wife of fraudulently selling £500,000 of land and shares belonging to her company, which he denied. Asos paid tribute to Mr Griffiths, saying he 'played an important role in Asos’s earliest days' and that they were 'forever grateful for his contribution'.
