New Epstein Emails Cast Further Doubt on Andrew's Account of Cutting Ties

Newly released emails from Jeffrey Epstein's estate have cast further doubt on the Duke of York's account of when he ended his association with the convicted sex offender. The emails, published by the US House oversight committee, show that in March 2011, four months after Andrew claimed to have cut ties, he wrote to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell: 'I can't take any more of this.'

The correspondence also appears to confirm the authenticity of a photograph showing Andrew with Virginia Giuffre, then aged 17, in 2001. In an email, Epstein wrote: 'Yes, she was on my plane and yes, she had her photo taken with Andrew, as many of my employees have.' Andrew had previously suggested the photo might have been doctored.

In another exchange, Andrew asked Epstein how he planned to respond to a newspaper inquiry about Giuffre's allegations. Epstein replied: 'Im [sic] not sure how to respond, the only person she didn't have sex with was Elvis.' Andrew then emailed Maxwell, saying: 'I don't know anything about this! You must SAY so please. This has NOTHING to do with me. I can't take any more of this.'

The documents also reveal that Epstein discussed investigating Giuffre, saying Buckingham Palace would 'love it' if a journalist probed her background. He described her as 'a total liar' and claimed she was 'nothing more than a telephone answerer'.

Andrew has consistently denied all allegations of wrongdoing. The release of these documents follows the publication of Giuffre's memoirs and the stripping of Andrew's royal titles by King Charles. Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial, and Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking.
