Tragic Lake District Swimming Accident Claims Life of 'Amazing' Teen Cricket Star
A promising young cricketer and Blackpool Sixth Form student has been named as the teenager who tragically drowned while swimming at a Lake District beauty spot earlier this week. Absi Ahmed, aged just 17, lost his life after getting into difficulty in the water at High Dam Tarn near Windermere on Tuesday, April 7th.
Desperate Search Operation Launched
The incident prompted a major emergency response after a member of the public raised the alarm around midday. Cumbria Police swiftly arrived at the scene shortly after 12:30 PM and confirmed the teenager was missing. A comprehensive search operation was immediately launched involving multiple emergency services.
The desperate multi-agency effort included police officers, fire and ambulance crews, coastguard teams, and mountain rescue specialists. Local farmers provided crucial assistance by helping transport personnel and equipment across challenging terrain.
