King Charles and Prince Harry met at Highgrove on Friday, but a 'real reconciliation' is yet to begin, according to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams. The monarch and Queen Camilla hosted Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet at the private residence in Gloucestershire. Palace sources confirmed the reunion was the first time the King and Queen had seen Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet since 2022. No photographs or details from the meeting are expected to be released.
Expert Says Reconciliation Has Not Started
Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal commentator, told The Daily Express exclusively that the meeting came with significant publicity and headlines, making the King cautious. 'Next time, if there is one, they should come and go without a media circus. Then real reconciliation might start,' Fitzwilliams said. He added that 'one hopes the germ of it has begun already, as the King is 77 and is battling cancer. If so, it will take a long time and no interviews from the Sussexes about the meeting.'
Harry's UK Visit Described as 'a Mess'
Fitzwilliams also described Prince Harry's week-long UK visit as 'a mess.' The prince had been in the UK since Monday, facing public rows over accommodation and security, and losing his case against Associated Newspapers. 'Meghan's schedule was torn up and there were public rows over accommodation and security. Harry lost his case against Associated Newspapers. Invictus did get a 'one year to go' boost. I strongly doubt that it will be repeated soon,' Fitzwilliams stated.
Family Stays at Althorp House
It is believed that Harry and his family are now staying at Althorp House, the late Princess Diana's family home, where Harry's uncle Earl Charles Spencer lives. The house, which is usually open to visitors in summer, was closed yesterday and today.
