Three women were forcibly removed from a Frontier Airlines flight and subsequently arrested at Miami International Airport on Sunday evening after a dramatic confrontation over baggage fees. The incident, which caused a significant delay, unfolded when the passengers refused to pay for additional carry-on luggage and stormed onto the aircraft through a restricted area.
Chaos Over Carry-On Charges
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, Nafisa Dockery, 30, Dionjana Cochran, 21, and Davana Cochran, 26, were attempting to travel from Miami to Philadelphia when they declined to pay for two extra carry-on bags. An arrest report obtained by the Daily Mail details that a verbal dispute erupted after airline staff asked them to step out of line to settle the fee. The situation escalated when a Frontier employee warned that failure to pay would result in their removal from the flight.
Rushing the Gate and Boarding Illegally
It is alleged that Dockery then instructed the others, 'We don't have to listen, let's just go', prompting the trio to rush the gate and board the plane via a restricted section. Deputies were called to the scene and had to evacuate the aircraft to apprehend the women, who initially refused to disembark. Footage from the incident shows the women being escorted away in handcuffs, with one of them making aggressive remarks to a bystander.
Resisting Arrest and Additional Charges
The arrest report further states that the women struggled with officers as they were being taken into custody, requiring significant effort to apply handcuffs. Dockery is additionally accused of spitting on a person during the arrest. All three were charged with trespassing after a warning and resisting an officer, while Dockery faces an extra charge of battery.
Flight Delay and Social Media Fallout
The altercation delayed the Frontier Airlines flight by approximately one hour, inconveniencing other passengers. Some travelers were heard cheering as the women were led away. Following their arrest, Dockery, Dionjana Cochran, and Davana Cochran were booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Social media posts reveal that Dockery, an aspiring actress, had shared videos of herself enjoying Miami Beach earlier that day.
This incident highlights ongoing tensions between airlines and passengers over baggage policies, underscoring the legal consequences of violating airport security protocols. The case remains under investigation as authorities review the full extent of the disruptions caused.
