Three Men Face Murder Charges in Fatal Shooting of Rising Star
Prosecutors in Los Angeles have formally charged three men with murder following the tragic killing of Maria De La Rosa, a 22-year-old Latin music artist who performed under the name DELAROSA. The young singer was shot over the weekend while sitting in a parked car in the Northridge area of LA.
Details of the Robbery and Shooting
According to court documents, the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday. De La Rosa was in a vehicle with two other individuals when three men approached them, demanded money, and then opened fire, striking all three occupants inside the car.
Maria De La Rosa later died from her injuries at a hospital. The two other victims of the shooting remain in a critical condition, fighting for their lives.
LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman described the event as a "ruthless and targeted attack" that not only stole the life of a promising young artist but also inflicted profound and lifelong trauma on her family and the two survivors.
Arrests and Charges Filed
Law enforcement moved quickly following the shooting. A 27-year-old man was arrested on the same day, with another 27-year-old man taken into custody the following day. An arrest warrant has been issued for a third suspect, aged 21.
All three men, who are from Northridge, now face one felony count of murder and two felony counts of attempted second-degree robbery. Attempts to reach attorneys for the first two arrested men were unsuccessful.
The music community has been quick to mourn the loss of DELAROSA, an artist with a growing fanbase. She had amassed more than 40,000 followers on Instagram and had released a single in August titled "No Me Llames" ("Don't Call Me"). On her most recent Instagram post, an outpouring of grief included a comment from Jimmy Humilde, a founder of the influential record label Rancho Humilde.
