Ex-military pilot and son, 13, killed in Majorca plane crash during stunt

An ex-military fighter pilot and his 13-year-old son have died after their plane crashed into the sea off Majorca while performing stunts for tourists. The incident occurred near the port of Soller on Saturday evening, leaving holidaymakers in shock.

Rescue teams recovered the bodies of the 60-year-old pilot and his son on Sunday afternoon. The Civil Guard confirmed that divers from the elite GEAS unit, along with coastguards, the Navy and Air Force, retrieved the bodies from a depth of around 30 metres. They have been taken to Soller Port.

The pilot, who has not been officially named, was described locally as an ex-combat pilot with extensive experience flying F-18 and F-14 fighter jets from US Navy aircraft carriers. Witnesses reported seeing the plane flying very low before it crashed into the water and sank.
