Nicki Minaj Flaunts Trump Gold Card, Claims Fast-Track to Citizenship
Grammy-nominated rapper Nicki Minaj has publicly showcased her possession of a Trump Gold Card, a controversial immigration initiative launched by the Trump administration last month. The card, which typically requires a $1 million fee, promises expedited legal residency in the United States for wealthy applicants. However, Minaj, 44, stated she received the card "free of charge" as a gift.
Minaj's Social Media Revelation and Citizenship Claims
On Wednesday night, the Trinidadian-born artist shared an image on X of the gold card resting in her lap, captioning it simply with "Welp." In a follow-up post, Minaj went further, asserting that the card was not merely about residency but full citizenship. She wrote, "Residency? Residency? The cope is coping. Finalizing that citizenship paperwork as we speak as per MY wonderful, gracious, charming President." She added, "Thanks to the petition. I wouldn't have done it without you. Oh CitizenNIKA you are thee moment. Gold Trump card free of charge."
This claim appears to contradict the official government website for the program, trumpcard.gov, which currently specifies that the card only confers legal residency, not citizenship. The Trump administration has promoted the scheme as a pathway to attract the world's wealthiest individuals, offering residency "in record time" for the hefty fee.
White House Appearance and Presidential Praise
Minaj received the card after appearing at a White House event on Wednesday alongside Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary. The event was held to promote children's investment accounts established under the Trump administration's partisan spending package. President Trump praised Minaj during the gathering, noting her financial contributions and steadfast support.
"Nicki makes a lot of money, and she's generously stepping up. She's investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in Trump accounts to support the children and really, really the children of her incredible fans," Trump said. He added that Minaj has been "a big Trump supporter and a Trump fan" who has faced criticism but remained "an unbelievable supporter." Inviting her on stage, Trump remarked that she has "been with us all the way."
Minaj's Vocal Support and Fan Backlash
Wearing a puffy white fur-trimmed coat at the event, Minaj expressed her unwavering admiration for Trump, calling herself his "number one fan" and vowing that her support "is not going to change." She addressed the backlash from fans, stating, "And the hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more, and it's going to motivate all of us to support him more." Minaj emphasised, "We're not going to let them get away with bullying him and you know, the smear campaigns, it's not going to work. OK?"
The "Starships" rapper has faced significant criticism for her pro-Trump stance. Last month, during a surprise appearance at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest 2026 summit, she praised Trump as "handsome" and "dashing," and commended his administration. "This administration is full of people with heart and soul, and they make me proud of them. Our vice president, he makes me ... well, I love both of them," Minaj said. "Both of them have a very uncanny ability to be someone that you relate to."
Her appearance at the summit, alongside the recent White House event, has sparked intense debate among her fanbase and the public, highlighting the intersection of celebrity, politics, and immigration policy in the current US landscape.
