British Mother-of-Three Fatally Stabbed at Spanish Home
Tributes are flooding in for a British mother-of-three who was stabbed to death at her home in Spain yesterday. The victim has been named as 33-year-old Victoria Hart, an expat living in the La Paca area of Alhaurin el Grande in Malaga.
Details of the Tragic Attack
The attack occurred at around 11.40am local time on Saturday. Officers discovered a kitchen knife at the scene, which has been taken away as part of the ongoing investigation. According to local reports, Victoria's eldest child, an 11-year-old boy, ran into the garden of the residential estate to seek help after the stabbing. The youngster is also said to have phoned his grandmother immediately following the attack. The family, which includes twin seven-year-old sisters, lived in a residential estate approximately a 50-minute drive inland from the coastal resort of Marbella.
Arrest and Suspect Information
The man arrested on suspicion of the murder, known by the initials J.A.R., is understood to be Victoria Hart's ex-partner. He reportedly handed himself in to authorities at the nearby Alhaurin de la Torre prison shortly after the incident, stating to officers: 'Arrest me, I've done something very bad.' Little has officially emerged about the suspect, but Spanish media have reported that he was a former semi-professional footballer who previously played in Spain's Tercera Federación league.
Disturbingly, it has also emerged that the victim was registered on VioGen, Spain's official monitoring and safeguarding system for women at risk of gender-based or domestic violence. Neighbours have claimed the couple's relationship had been deteriorating and they were in the process of separating. Local reports suggest the man had been made subject to restraining orders prohibiting him from contacting or seeing Victoria.
Heartbreaking Tributes from Friends
Friends have taken to social media to pay heartfelt tributes to Victoria, with many expressing devastation and condemning domestic violence. One friend posted: 'RIP Victoria Hart. This is devastating news. We need to stand up against domestic violence in this country and work against those who are protecting these animals. My prayers are with the family at this terrible time.'
Another friend, Elaine Mawer, wrote in a message believed to be to Victoria's mother: 'I am heartbroken. This should never have happened. Them poor children. Deepest condolences to Sue Hart and all the family. Victoria will be very sadly missed.'
Joanne Wilson added: 'There's no words in this world that could describe a beautiful person, a great mother, a great friend. Victoria Hart you will be missed. My heart is broken and I still can't believe it. RIP my angel.' Donna Hancock said on social media: 'Let's stand together for Victoria Hart and her family. RIP angel taken too soon. Domestic violence.'
Official Response and Day of Mourning
A spokesman for the Civil Guard in Malaga confirmed: 'The Civil Guard is investigating the death of a woman in Alhaurin el Grande. Her ex-partner has been arrested as the alleged killer.' In response to the tragedy, Alhaurin el Grande Town Council issued a statement expressing its deepest sorrow. The council conveyed condolences to the victim's family and friends and condemned the act of gender-based violence, calling it a social scourge that must be eradicated.
The Mayor of Alhaurin el Grande, Anthony Bermudez, has declared Monday 26 January 2026 an official day of mourning as a sign of respect and solidarity with the victim's family. The Foreign Office has been contacted for comment regarding the death of a British national abroad.
Victoria Hart had shared a photo on her social media in August 2019 showing her walking down the aisle, a poignant reminder of a life tragically cut short. The community, both in Spain and the UK, is now rallying to support her three young children and grieving family.
