Daniel Kinahan, Alleged Irish Crime Boss, Arrested in Dubai

Daniel Kinahan, the alleged leader of the Kinahan organised crime group, has been arrested in the United Arab Emirates. Irish police confirmed the arrest of a man in his late 40s, based on a warrant issued by Irish courts for serious organised crime offences.

The arrest was carried out under a bilateral extradition agreement between Ireland and the UAE. Kinahan, a Dubliner living in the UAE, has previously denied any involvement in organised crime and has no criminal convictions.

An Garda Síochána described the arrest as an important demonstration of international law enforcement cooperation in tackling transnational organised crime. Dubai police stated they captured the suspect within 48 hours of receiving a judicial file from Irish authorities.

Kinahan is the founder of MTK Global boxing management, which once represented fighters like Tyson Fury and Billy Joe Saunders. In 2016, an attempt was made on his life at a Dublin boxing weigh-in. Fury thanked him in 2020 for helping arrange a fight with Anthony Joshua, but later cut ties.

Irish Minister Jim O'Callaghan welcomed the arrest, noting it followed his request for extradition. He highlighted the close cooperation between Ireland and the UAE on serious crime, including bilateral treaties signed in 2025.
