Fleetwood Mac Star's Alleged Stalker Arrested After Claiming Paternity

A woman who has repeatedly claimed that Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham is her biological father has been arrested in Indiana, following an alleged incident where she doused the rock legend with an unknown substance. Michelle Dick, 55, was detained by the Allen County Sheriff's Office in Fort Wayne on Saturday night, pursuant to a Los Angeles warrant issued after a series of stalking and harassment incidents targeting the star.

Seven Criminal Charges Filed

Dick faces seven criminal counts in Los Angeles County, stemming from the alleged attack on March 25 in Santa Monica, where Buckingham was reportedly unharmed. The charges include criminal threats, misdemeanor battery, assault with a deadly weapon involving a motor vehicle, and vandalism of Buckingham's car in a separate incident on March 19. This arrest comes after years of alleged relentless harassment, which previously led Buckingham to secure a five-year restraining order against Dick.

History of Harassment and Restraining Order

In his petition for the restraining order, Buckingham, 76, detailed a campaign of misery that included Dick loitering outside his Los Angeles home, bombarding him with phone calls, leaving threatening voicemails, and staging a fake 999 call claiming gunshots inside his residence. This false report resulted in police responding to the property and briefly placing Buckingham in handcuffs. Buckingham emphatically stated in the petition, "I do not know Ms Dick and I am not her father," countering her claims that he was responsible for childhood facial deformities and demanding money.

A Los Angeles judge granted the restraining order, requiring Dick to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Buckingham, his family, homes, and vehicles for five years. Despite this legal measure, Dick is alleged to have continued her actions, flouting the order entirely. In a recent interview with US television station KTLA, she acknowledged visiting his property but claimed ignorance of the restraining order, stating, "One time, that was last year. But I didn't know I had a restraining order on me. He wasn't a father to me, but he's my birth father."

Awaiting Extradition and Buckingham's Legacy

Dick is currently awaiting extradition back to California to face the criminal charges. Meanwhile, Lindsey Buckingham, born in Palo Alto, California in 1949, remains one of rock music's most celebrated figures. He joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 alongside then-partner Stevie Nicks, playing a pivotal role in transforming the band from a British blues outfit into a global phenomenon. His contributions were central to the iconic 1977 album Rumours, one of the best-selling records in history, for which he wrote, produced, and performed tracks like "Go Your Own Way" and "The Chain."

Buckingham was controversially ousted from Fleetwood Mac in 2018 following reported tensions with Nicks, but he has since maintained a successful solo career. In 2024, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist, adding to his previous induction as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998. This arrest highlights the ongoing challenges faced by public figures in dealing with persistent stalkers, even with legal protections in place.
