Former University Dean Charged with Meth Dealing in Indiana

A former university dean in Indiana has been charged with dealing methamphetamine, in a case drawing comparisons to the TV series Breaking Bad. Alan Jay White, 59, was arrested after police raided his home in Clarksville on 7 March, finding 78 grams of suspected meth and counterfeit cash.

Police said the amount was too large for personal use, charging him with dealing meth, counterfeiting, and possessing drug paraphernalia. White, known locally as 'the professor' due to his former role as a college dean, had been under investigation for years, according to Clarksville police chief Nathan Walls.

White, released without bond pending trial, told local media the drugs found were not his. He disputed the police narrative, saying no large sums of money, drugs, or weapons were seized. 'If they've literally been following me for years, as they said, somebody's got to answer to their boss about what an incredible waste of resources it was,' he said.

Police referenced Breaking Bad in their statement, with Chief Walls saying, 'He's definitely no Walter White.' White served as dean of Indiana University Southeast's business school from 2007 to 2017, and previously worked as a finance professor. He now lists himself as semi-retired and self-employed in home renovation.
