Hollywood Stars Slam ICE After Fatal Shooting of Woman in Minneapolis
Celebrities Denounce ICE Over Minneapolis Shooting

Prominent Hollywood figures have launched a fierce condemnation of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following the fatal shooting of a woman in Minneapolis. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, has ignited widespread protests and drawn sharp criticism from local politicians.

Details of the Fatal Encounter

Renee Nicole Good, aged 37, was shot three times in the head while inside her sports utility vehicle. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which oversees ICE, has stated the agent involved acted in self-defence, claiming Good was accelerating her car towards him. This account has been vehemently disputed by Minneapolis's Democrat Mayor, Jacob Frey, who viewed the footage of the event.

"They are already trying to spin this as an act of self-defence. Having seen the video myself, I wanna tell everybody directly, that is bull****," Mayor Frey declared. He forcefully told the federal agency to "get the f**k out of Minneapolis."

Celebrity Outrage and Political Fallout

The shooting has prompted a vocal response from several liberal celebrities. Mamma Mia! star Amanda Seyfried shared Instagram posts highlighting Mayor Frey's comments and a quote from George Orwell's 1984. Marvel actor Simu Liu posted on X, writing, "Beyond appalled at the murderous actions of ICE agents in Minneapolis... there is a video, and it clearly shows the murder of an unarmed woman driving away. AWAY." He concluded with "F**k ICE forever."

Cynthia Nixon of Sex and the City fame used her Instagram to call for ICE to be abolished and for the agent to be charged with murder. The backlash occurs amidst a significant DHS operation, which has deployed over 2,000 officers to the region in what it describes as its largest immigration enforcement action to date.

In a starkly contrasting view, Vice President JD Vance offered full support to ICE personnel. "I want every ICE officer to know that their president, vice president, and the entire administration stands behind them," he stated on X. Addressing critics, he added, "To the radicals assaulting them, doxxing them, and threatening them: congratulations, we're going to work even harder to enforce the law."

Community Reaction and Divisions

The local community has reacted with anger and grief. Mass protests gathered in Minneapolis streets following the shooting. Minneapolis Public Schools cancelled all classes and activities for Thursday and Friday citing safety concerns related to the citywide incidents.

Within Good's own family, opinions are divided. One former brother-in-law suggested she "should have minded her own business," while other relatives have labelled the shooting a murder. The event continues to unfold, highlighting deep national divisions over immigration enforcement and the use of force.
