Man United Boost: Alex Scott Rejects Contract, Zirkzee Interest Grows

Manchester United have been handed a welcome boost regarding their summer transfer activity as Alex Scott has turned down a new contract proposal from Bournemouth. The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford this summer.

Scott Rejects Bournemouth Deal

According to Sky Sports, Scott is not presently willing to accept the terms offered by Bournemouth, with his representatives having rejected a new offer. The Cherries have Scott contracted until 2028 and had attempted to extend his deal. A release clause for Scott has been mentioned, but with nothing signed, Scott is anticipated to cost any suitors around £60m.

United's interest in the midfielder comes as manager Michael Carrick is reportedly seeking a third addition to the engine room. Scott appears to be the concrete option, as is AS Roma's Manu Kone. Scott's club team-mate Tyler Adams has similarly been mentioned as a potential Old Trafford recruit. Arsenal have also been connected with Scott, though Newcastle United's Bruno Guimaraes appears to be their primary objective.

Zirkzee Attracts Juventus Interest

United striker Joshua Zirkzee has attracted interest from Juventus, as the Serie A outfit considers a bid for the Dutch forward. Zirkzee has been persistently linked with a return to Italy after failing to make his mark in the Premier League since arriving at Old Trafford in 2024 for £36.5million from Bologna.

While he has managed just five goals in 56 Premier League outings, the 25-year-old's reputation in Italy appears to have remained strong. Gazzetta dello Sport report that Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali and sporting director Marco Ottolini are seeking to replace Dusan Vlahovic, who was recently released. Zirkzee is understood to have received 'texts, calls and video calls' as the Serie A heavyweights explored his availability. Juve's preferred target is believed to be PSG's Kolo Muani, but their £34m offer has not yet been accepted as the Parisians attempt to secure a higher fee.

Zirkzee featured in United's opening pre-season fixture of the summer and failed to get on the scoresheet as Carrick's side suffered defeat against Wrexham. In April, it was claimed that Zirkzee was 'intent' on remaining at Old Trafford beyond the summer, but it appears he could be departing.
