A lorry driver from Somerset has commemorated his £1 million Omaze win by having the company's logo tattooed on his wrist. Andrew Williams, 66, won the tax-free jackpot just one week after retiring from a 35-year career driving HGVs.
Williams, from Shepton Mallet, said he had been anxious about his pension and financial future after finishing his final shift. 'I was worried about the size of my pension pot,' he said. 'With rent and the cost of everything going up, I thought I was going to have to scrimp and save.'
The father-of-three decided to mark his win with a permanent tattoo. 'Obviously I'll always remember winning every time I look at my bank account, but I like to get tattoos that represent important moments in my life, and this fits the bill,' he said.
Williams plans to invest most of his winnings to provide for his family, including helping his son buy a home and supporting his daughters. He intends to treat himself to a second-hand Mercedes GLE and a nice watch, but said he will not buy a sports car because of his knees.
