Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a grave warning that his country could soon face a critical shortage of missiles in its ongoing war against Russia, directly attributing this risk to the escalating conflict in Iran. Speaking in an interview with the BBC, Zelensky emphasised that a protracted war in the Middle East would play directly into the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin, as it threatens to drain essential resources.

"For Putin, a long war in Iran is a plus," Zelensky stated unequivocally. He elaborated that beyond driving up global energy prices, such a scenario would lead to the depletion of United States military reserves and strain air defence manufacturers worldwide. During a visit to London, Zelensky addressed British Members of Parliament, labelling Russia and Iran as "brothers in hatred and weapons." In response, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer reaffirmed the United Kingdom's commitment, stressing that the focus "must remain on Ukraine" despite the ongoing Middle East turmoil. Starmer warned that Putin must not be allowed to benefit from the Iran conflict, whether through manipulated oil prices or the relaxation of sanctions.
