Will Mellor Gets Emotional Over Biggest Fear 'I'm Scared of Dying'
Former Coronation Street star Will Mellor opened up in a deeply personal and emotional moment during the latest episode of Will & Ralf Should Know Better. The duo confronted their fears in a series of challenges, with Mellor revealing his profound anxiety about mortality and aging.
Confronting Mortality on Camera
During the show, Mellor, aged 49, and his co-host Ralf Little, 46, embarked on a journey to Scotland to investigate fear. While driving, Little prompted Mellor to discuss his fears, to which Mellor initially resisted before admitting, "I'm getting scared of getting older. I'm scared of dying." Little teased his friend with a darkly humorous response, but Mellor snapped back, expressing a belief that technology might allow him to live forever, though Little quipped about him potentially missing out.
Trapeze Challenge Highlights Anxiety
The episode featured the pair taking part in a trapeze class, where they had to jump off a high platform while holding onto a bar and maneuver their legs over it. Despite wearing harnesses and safety nets, Mellor struggled immensely with the challenge. He froze on the platform, exclaiming, "Oh my God, no, I'm sorry, I can't let go, there's no way, mate. No, I can't do it." He later admitted to "s******g myself" and requested to be brought down, highlighting his intense fear.
Emotional Reflection on Aging
In a vulnerable moment captured on video, Mellor became emotional as he reflected on his inability to perform the trapeze move. He said, "I don't know if it's because I'm getting older or what but that doubt and that fear was more than it's ever been before." He contrasted this with his fearless childhood, noting, "These things you take for granted as a kid. I used to go to parks swinging from my ankles. No fear. No problem. I'm 49 now and you can tell."
Support from Co-Host Ralf Little
After a failed attempt where Mellor jumped but couldn't loop his legs over the bar, he expressed frustration, saying, "Don't make me do it again" and "I can't keep failing because it's not good for me head." Little was quick to offer support, reassuring him, "Woah, hold on, you haven't failed." This interaction underscored the show's theme of facing fears with camaraderie.
Insights into Fear and Aging
Mellor shared a poignant insight in a subsequent video segment, stating, "The older you get, the less you do, so the more scared you are of doing things that you've never done before. I think that's the key, and I hate it." This candid admission resonated with the show's exploration of personal anxieties and the impact of aging on confidence.
Will & Ralf Should Know Better is available to watch on Channel 4 and 4oD, as well as on the streaming service U. The episode provides a raw look at celebrity vulnerabilities and the universal struggle with fear.
