Vance Denounces 'Incestuous' Elite Circles Following Epstein Document Release

United States Vice President JD Vance has launched a scathing critique of what he describes as America's "incestuous elites" in the wake of the latest substantial release of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. The Department of Justice shared three million pages of material last Friday, marking the largest disclosure since legislation mandated their publication last year.

High-Profile Names Emerge in Latest Document Dump

The extensive files mention numerous prominent figures, including former President Bill Clinton, billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates, and technology entrepreneur Elon Musk. British political figure Lord Peter Mandelson also appears in the documents and now faces a police investigation in the United Kingdom alongside calls for his peerage to be revoked. Notably, President Donald Trump's name appears thousands of times within the released materials.

Vance was unequivocal in his assessment during an interview with the Daily Mail, stating: "I think that it just shows there's an incestuous nature to America's elites, and it's pretty gross. And, a lot of people, I think, it reflects very poorly on them. Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, a lot of others."

Trump Positioned as Outside the Elite Circle

Despite President Trump's frequent appearance in the Epstein files, Vance was quick to distinguish him from the group he criticised. "President Trump is very much outside of the social circle," Vance insisted. "He knows a lot of these people. He certainly has similar wealth and power. But he never really was friendly with Epstein in a way that a lot of these other people were."

President Trump himself has sought to distance himself from the unfolding scandal. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Saturday, he remarked: "I was told by some very important people that not only does it absolve me, it's the opposite of what people were hoping." The President has consistently denied any knowledge of Epstein's criminal activities, though the issue has persisted throughout his 2024 presidential campaign, during which he pledged to release the documents.

Calls for Accountability Extend Across the Atlantic

The vice president also expressed support for congressional scrutiny of British royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor regarding his connections to the convicted sex offender. "I saw Keir Starmer said something about this," Vance noted, referencing the British Prime Minister. "I'm certainly open to it." He clarified that he would defer to congressional Republicans on whether to summon the former prince, adding: "I'd certainly be open to it. But it's their call, not mine."

Meanwhile, Bill and Hillary Clinton have agreed to testify before Congress concerning their associations with Epstein. Bill Gates has issued a formal statement vehemently rejecting allegations contained within the files. It is crucial to emphasise that inclusion in the Epstein documents does not constitute evidence of wrongdoing.

Mixed Responses from Other Named Individuals

Elon Musk, a notable Trump ally and Tesla chief executive, is referenced in the documents regarding discussions about attending parties at Epstein's Caribbean island residence. Musk has publicly stated that he consistently "REFUSED" such invitations, and it remains unclear whether any visits actually occurred.

As the political and social ramifications of the document release continue to unfold, President Trump has indicated a desire to shift the national conversation. When questioned about the files by a reporter on Tuesday, he stated: "I think it's really time for the country to get onto something else, really." The latest tranche includes not only millions of pages but also 180,000 images and 2,000 videos, ensuring the Epstein case remains a focal point of public and political discourse for the foreseeable future.
