Former US President Donald Trump and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee have launched a scathing attack on the Biden administration's response to the escalating Gaza crisis, accusing it of demonstrating "weak leadership" in the face of mounting violence.
Speaking at a private event hosted by New York real estate mogul Steve Witkoff, Trump condemned President Biden's foreign policy approach, claiming it has emboldened Hamas and destabilised the region further.
'A Complete Failure of Leadership'
"What we're seeing in Gaza is a direct result of weak, indecisive leadership," Trump told attendees. "The Biden administration has no strategy, no backbone, and the world knows it."
Huckabee echoed these sentiments, stating: "When America doesn't lead with strength, our allies suffer and our enemies prosper. The current situation in Gaza proves this beyond doubt."
Growing Republican Criticism
The remarks come as Republican leaders increasingly position themselves against Biden's Middle East policy, with many calling for:
- Stronger support for Israel
- Clearer condemnation of Hamas
- More decisive action to prevent regional escalation
Political analysts suggest this criticism could feature prominently in the upcoming election cycle, as Republicans seek to contrast their foreign policy approach with that of the current administration.
Humanitarian Concerns Mount
Meanwhile, international organisations continue to raise alarms about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, where:
- Civilian casualties are rising daily
- Basic infrastructure has been severely damaged
- Medical supplies are running critically low
As the political debate intensifies in Washington, the human cost of the conflict continues to grow, with no immediate resolution in sight.
