Traitors champion Rachel Duffy recently enjoyed a special family day out at the Harry Potter studio tour, focusing on "making memories" with her loved ones. The 43-year-old television personality, who hails from County Down, shared a series of photos on her Instagram Story this Wednesday, capturing joyful moments with her husband Sean and two of their children, Caden and Brodie.
A Day of Magical Family Fun
During the visit, Rachel was seen sipping butter beer and posing for playful snaps in various iconic locations throughout the tour. The family later gathered for a cheerful selfie, with Rachel captioning the update: "Making memories," and adding, "Lots of mischief managed with the boys." This outing comes after Rachel's recent revelation about her inability to take her late mother on a dream holiday before her passing, adding a poignant layer to these new family experiences.
The Bittersweet Context of the Prize Money
Rachel, a communications manager, secured half of the £95,750 Traitors prize pot when the series concluded last month. Throughout the show, she emotionally shared how the winnings would allow her to create lasting memories with her mother, Anne, who was tragically diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at age 47 and later developed dementia in her final years. However, in a devastating turn of events just days after the final aired, Rachel announced her mother's passing, robbing her of the opportunity to use the prize money as originally intended.
On Sunday, Rachel posted an emotional tribute on Instagram, expressing gratitude to her mother with a montage of photos and heartfelt words. She wrote: "Thank you Mummy, thank you for loving us so much. Thank you for teaching us our worth. Thank you for so much kindness shown and taught. Thank you for endless laughs and lots of fun. Thank you for helping us parent our babies. Thank you for being a shoulder to cry on when we needed one."
Support from Co-Stars and Prize Money Delays
Rachel's Traitors co-stars offered their condolences in the comments section. Dr Ellie Buckley wrote: "You and your family are in my thoughts, sending lots of love," while Faraaz Noor added: "Sending you and your family all the love in the world Rachel, just know how proud your mam is of you and the mother you are to your kids."
Despite winning £47,000 each, Rachel and fellow contestant Stephen have yet to receive their prize money, as payments are typically processed after the show's broadcast. On Monday, Stephen revealed during an appearance on This Morning that the funds had not yet arrived in his account. When host Cat Deeley asked how often he checked his banking app, Stephen laughed and replied: "It's not in there yet. But, yeah, I'm not checking because I just want to get a nice surprise when it finally comes in. But yeah, not yet."
Rachel's Emotional Journey on the Show
During a dinner party with the final eight contestants on Traitors, Rachel opened up about her mother's story, struggling to control her emotions as she spoke. She explained: "I would like to do something for my mummy who has been very ill for a long time. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's when she was only 47 and I have watched her my whole adult life just put her whole life on hold for other people. And she was diagnosed with dementia recently and all she wants to do is go on a holiday."
Rachel detailed her plans for the prize money, saying: "And I think if I were to win the money it would be to take her and my kids on holiday and make memories while she still has her memories. I think life is so precious and I really really want it for my mum because she did everything for us and I think now it's her time for us to look after her." This heartfelt intention underscores the significance of her recent family outing to the Harry Potter studio tour as she continues to cherish moments with her husband and children.
