Taylor Swift is set to become the first female artist to receive the Brit Awards' global icon prize. The US singer-songwriter will be honoured at Tuesday's ceremony at London's O2 Arena for her 'immense impact on music across the world and incredible repertoire and achievements to date'.
Swift is also nominated in the international female solo artist category, marking her sixth Brit award nomination overall. Organisers praised her for using her platform to highlight global issues and for her recent work promoting acceptance of the LGBTQ community.
Previous recipients of the global icon award include Elton John, Robbie Williams and David Bowie. Last month, Swift achieved her seventh UK No 1 album with 'Fearless (Taylor's Version)', her third chart-topping album in just 259 days.
The event, hosted by Jack Whitehall, will have an audience of 4,000 as part of the government's live events pilot scheme. Dua Lipa, Arlo Parks, Celeste, Young T & Bugsey, and Joel Corry lead the nominations with three each.
