Stephen Graham won the Best Performance in TV/Film award at the MOBO Awards for his role in Adolescence. The ceremony took place at Manchester's Co-op Live, where the actor was joined by his family.
In his acceptance speech, Graham thanked the MOBOs and his fellow nominees before dedicating the award to his stepfather, Mike Fazakerley. He said: 'I'd like to dedicate this award to my dad, my pops. The one and only, Mike Fazakerley.' Mike responded by beating his hand on his heart as Graham added: 'God bless, namaste.'
Mike Fazakerley married Graham's mother Mary in 1989, when Stephen was ten. Graham has maintained a good relationship with his biological father as well, but credits Mike with helping him understand his mixed-race heritage. In a 2019 interview, Graham said Mike helped him see 'who I am and what I am is good enough' and taught him about his cultural history.
Graham was also joined by his son Alfie, 19, and half-brother Nathan. He shares Alfie and daughter Gracie, 21, with wife Hannah Walters. The actor has previously become emotional discussing his family's support, notably when he landed a role in Martin Scorsese's The Irishman alongside Robert De Niro.
