Russian billionaire Alexey Mordashov's superyacht, Nord, successfully transited the heavily blockaded Strait of Hormuz last weekend, according to sources familiar with the matter. The passage of the $500 million vessel was unusual given the severe restrictions in the commercially vital waterway, a key area in the US-Iran conflict.
No Objections Raised
A source close to Mr Mordashov confirmed that neither Iran nor the United States objected to the transit, as it was a civilian vessel following an approved route. The yacht, registered to a firm owned by Mordashov's wife and linked to his steel company, completed its journey after maintenance in Dubai.
Current Location
Following its transit through the strait, the Nord has been located near the coast of Oman since Sunday. This development comes amidst strengthened ties between Russia and Iran.
The successful passage highlights the complex geopolitical dynamics in the region, where civilian vessels may still navigate despite heightened military tensions.
