A long-forgotten Star Wars action figure, hidden away in a loft for decades, has sold for an astonishing £460,000 at auction—smashing previous records for franchise memorabilia.
The rare Luke Skywalker figure, still in its original packaging, was discovered by chance while its owner was clearing out their attic. Experts confirmed it was one of only a handful of such items known to exist in such pristine condition.
A Galactic Find
The toy, produced in 1977 by Kenner, was part of the original Star Wars merchandise line. Due to a manufacturing error, very few of these figures were ever released, making them highly sought-after by collectors.
"It’s the holy grail of Star Wars collectibles," said the auctioneer. "Finding one still sealed in its original packaging is almost unheard of."
Record-Breaking Sale
The auction saw fierce bidding from Star Wars enthusiasts worldwide, with the final price far exceeding initial estimates. The sale has now set a new benchmark for vintage Star Wars toys.
Collectors speculate that the figure’s value could continue to rise, especially as the franchise celebrates its 50th anniversary in the coming years.
Meanwhile, the lucky seller—who wishes to remain anonymous—plans to use the windfall to pay off their mortgage and take a dream holiday.
