Peaky Blinders bosses are seeking extras for the next series, but only those with sharp 1950s hairstyles need apply. A casting call from agency Celex specifies: 'We're going back to Small Heath. Looking for Birmingham and Midlands based supporting artists for the new series of Peaky Blinders. 1950s-suitable hair required. No modern cuts or styles.'
Popular 1950s men's styles include short back and sides, crew cuts, and later quiffed rock 'n' roll looks like the pompadour. The new series shifts to 1953, focusing on a younger generation amid Birmingham's post-war reconstruction.
The show's creator, Steven Knight, has confirmed two more series and a second film, 'The Immortal Man', set in 1940. The film, a BBC and Netflix collaboration, will premiere in Birmingham. Its description states: 'Amidst the chaos of World War Two, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet.'
Cillian Murphy returns as Tommy Shelby, joined by Barry Keoghan, Stephen Graham, Rebecca Ferguson, Sophie Rundle, and Tim Roth. Knight added: 'The Shelbys are coming home and you are invited to join us. By order of the Peaky Blinders.'
