Patsy Kensit, 58, has revealed a major shift in her approach to love, saying she no longer 'runs towards' romance as she once did. The actress, known for roles in Absolute Beginners, Emmerdale and EastEnders, is among the celebrities taking part in the eighth series of BBC reality show Pilgrimage: The Road to Holy Island.
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, Kensit — who has been married four times, including to Simple Minds' Jim Kerr and Oasis star Liam Gallagher — said: 'I used to run towards love. That's not me any more. As I've got older, I don't think about it in the same way, and that's a huge shift for me.' She added that what now excites her is 'what's coming in the future'.
The pilgrimage, which saw her walk from Northumberland to Lindisfarne alongside Diversity's Ashley Banjo, former Love Islander Tasha Ghouri and Cold Feet's Hermione Norris, proved physically challenging. Kensit admitted she was not as fit as the others but praised her fellow pilgrims for their care, joking that one became her 'carer' on a steep climb.
Describing herself as an 'à la carte Catholic', Kensit said she also believes in a higher power and has meditated for the past decade, which she called 'life-changing'. She spoke of seeing 'signs' from her late mother, such as white feathers and robins, and reflected on her mother's influence: 'She was like an angel... the best mother you could ever have.'
Kensit missed her youngest son Lennon's 26th birthday during filming but said the experience was 'incredible'. She now tries to welcome each day with a positive attitude, adding: 'I used to worry about everything... I don't really, any more.'
