Netflix Dating Show Contestant Opens Up About Virginity After Being Edited Out

Ashley Wottring, a 39-year-old business owner from Fishers, Indiana, was originally cast as a contestant on Netflix's new dating series Age of Attraction. However, her personal story did not make the final edit of the show. Following the series premiere on Wednesday, Wottring turned to TikTok to share an intimate detail about her life: she is a virgin and has chosen to wait until marriage to have sex.

Revealing a Personal Secret on Social Media

In a nearly two-minute video posted to her TikTok account, Wottring explained her absence from the broadcast. 'I was on Netflix to do a show, Age of Attraction,' she stated. 'I know what you’re thinking right now... wait, we didn't see you. Sadly, my story was cut.' She then proceeded to disclose her virginity, noting that this aspect of her life has significantly affected her dating experiences.

Wottring prefaced her revelation by saying, 'I'm going to spill a little tea here. I'm 39-years-old, I was 38 when the show filmed and when it comes to my dating life I've honestly been single for as long as I can remember.' She described feeling that it is a 'lonely time to be 39 and single' without children, and expressed hope that her openness would help others feel less isolated.

The Casting Process and Personal Reflections

The business owner did not apply for the show herself; instead, a friend submitted her name to a casting director on her 38th birthday. Wottring reflected, 'If it was any day other than my birthday, I’m honestly not sure I would have even answered.' She elaborated on the emotional weight of birthdays at her age, mentioning the pressure of the biological clock and the desire to find a partner soon.

Despite her segment being omitted from the final cut, Wottring indicated that she formed two connections during filming that she cannot discuss in detail to avoid spoilers. She told viewers, 'I can’t say yet if I’m dating anyone from the show or if I’m still single.'

About Age of Attraction and Future Plans

Age of Attraction is hosted by former Bachelor star Nick Viall and his wife Natalie Joy, who have an 18-year age gap themselves. The show's concept involves mixing singles of different ages to explore whether age-gap relationships can overcome generational differences. Ahead of the premiere, Wottring shared her official promotional portrait on Instagram, teasing, 'So grateful for the experience and that’s all I can say… for now.'

Wottring, whose social media content focuses on style, skincare, and girly things, vowed to talk more about her virginity in the future. She said, 'I’m gonna start to talk about it more, but it’s something that I haven’t really talked about in a really long time outside of my close circle.' Her decision to share this personal aspect publicly marks a significant step in her journey, aiming to foster connection and understanding among her followers.
