Married At First Sight Australia has seen its first couple in the show's history quit during the initial dinner party, only to make a surprise return days later. Natalie Parham and Collins Christian exited the E4 series earlier this week, but during the episode aired on March 7, Natalie had a change of heart and rejoined the experiment.
After moving into shared apartments in Sydney, Natalie surprised Collins by returning. 'He probably thinks I jetted home to Melbourne on the first flight,' she said, explaining she had slept on her decision. However, she warned: 'I've decided to stay in the experiment, but if he starts to do that surface level performance, I'm out.'
Collins admitted he was 'shocked and speechless' to see Natalie arrive at their apartment. Natalie told him she still felt there were things to learn about herself and the relationship before calling it quits. She reflected on the dinner party, saying: 'You didn't really pick up on my cues that I really wanted you to be by my side. I spiralled. I wish you could have bolstered me up a bit.'
The couple had argued before the dinner party over a lack of romance and connection during their honeymoon. At the dinner, Natalie was in tears but Collins failed to notice her distress. 'This is just horrible. It just doesn't feel real and right,' she said, adding she needed honesty and communication.
After initially deciding to leave, Natalie informed the other brides and grooms: 'I'm not being my happy, bubbly self. Being here has been a big challenge for me.' The series continues on E4.
